Our Journey: From a Calling to Compassion in Action

Lighten the Load was born from a calling rooted in experience. After returning from my Peace Corps service in Ghana, I couldn’t forget the families I met—kind, resilient people struggling to access even the most basic medical care. Without a functioning healthcare system or affordable prescriptions, many were left to suffer silently from treatable conditions.
I witnessed preventable deaths and daily sacrifices that no one should have to make. Guided by faith and a desire to serve, we formed Lighten the Load—to help bridge the gap and bring dignity, compassion, and healing to those who need it most.
Lighten the Load was established years ago with the vision of helping underserved people in Ghana. Our focus evolved over the years, and in 2025 we rebranded to focus on health support services.
